WWF-India provides volunteering opportunities to anyone above 18 years of age irrespective of their profession and educational qualifications.

We provide opportunities to:

  1. Lead: Lead sessions in schools, assist with conducting events, activities, campaigns and competitions at community level
  2. Learn: Participate in citizen-science projects and learn about local biodiversity
  3. Explore: Assist projects by conducting surveys, collecting data and documenting biodiversity

Magical Mangroves

Magical Mangroves

For Magical Mangroves, 314 volunteers conducted 1,515 awareness sessions by engaging 1,16,326 participants from schools, colleges, corporates and communities across seven coastal states from 2020 to 2026.

Jallosh Clean Coasts

Jallosh Clean Coasts

Over 2,000 volunteers from Mumbai have participated in the monthly Jallosh Beach Clean-up movement since 2019. An initiative of Project Mumbai, supported by WWF-India, Jallosh has collected over 15,140 kg of plastic waste, which is recycled into benches and pencil boxes that later get distributed to parks and schools.

Annual Vulture Count

Annual Vulture Count

WWF-India’s Annual Vulture Count engages around 200 volunteers every year, who have submitted 1,200+ eBird checklists with 9,300+ vulture sightings. The project covers 26 states and UTs with training sessions on vulture identification and eBird.

Campus Bird Count

Campus Bird Count

For the past three years, WWF-India is collaborating with Bird Count India for Campus Bird Count. It has engaging over 300 volunteers from 65+ colleges and institutes to document birdlife across campuses in India.

Asian Waterbird Census 2026

Asian Waterbird Census 2026

In Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, the Asian Waterbird Census 2026 was carried out with the support of 120 volunteers, who surveyed 26 wetlands of the two districts. The effort is coordinated by WWF-India's Kerala office since 2015.

You can sign up as a volunteer by clicking on the button to ‘Sign Up’ above. Once you do, you will receive a confirmation email. No documents or additional actions are required.

Once you have signed up, click the ‘Discover Opportunities’ button. Browse through the available projects at your location and register for those that interest you and match your skills and schedule.

Upon registration, you will need to attend an orientation session for the project you have selected. This will be listed on the project page and confirmed via email a day before the orientation. During the orientation, you will be assigned specific responsibilities, timings, duration, and requirements for the project.
